  About Adooka

Witnessing the joy and discovery of the first years of your baby's life is an experience like no other. As those of you who have children know, and as those of you expecting will soon know, a baby forever changes your perspective on life. Like many of you, concern about my son's immediate happiness and comfort soon led to thoughts about the kind of world he would grow up in. When I decided to start Adooka (my son's first word, for duck) I knew I wanted it to be an eco-friendly company offering products made locally. I saw an opportunity to create new jobs so that our children could (and hopefully will) grow up in a prosperous country with ample opportunities. I also knew, from my experiences as a new mother dressing a four-limbed bundle of energy, that I wanted to incorporate construction details that would make life easier. Finally, I wanted to offer timeless designs capturing all of the charm of our beautiful, quirky, unexpectedly amazing wee sons and daughters.

About the clothes

Each Adooka garment is sewn and embroidered with care in the United States and undergoes thorough quality and safety testing. The luxuriously thick, buttery soft, 100% certified organic cotton fabric is knitted in Canada and dyed under Oeko-tex guidelines with low-impact, fiber-reactive dyes free of heavy metals and toxins. The embroidery thread is Oeko-tex certified and no adhesive backings are used in the embroidery process. You can relax knowing your baby not only looks adorable but is extra comfy -- ready for a day of play or a night of peaceful slumber (yeah, wishful thinking). Each style is designed to be quick and easy to put on a hungry baby or a squirmy toddler. No fiddly buttons, no back snaps, and no endless rows of snaps to line up at 3 AM. Convenient (and difficult to find) full-inseam zipper rompers, zip sleepers, lap necks, elastic waist pants, and a wonderfully easy sleep sack for middle of the night diaper changes. I hope these will soon become favorites that you reach for time and again.

About being eco-friendly

I manufacture close to home because being eco-friendly means more than avoiding pesticides. It means keeping the supply chain local, both to avoid the extra fossil fuel consumption and packaging materials involved in shipping overseas, and to encourage and support green businesses here in the United States and Canada. It means using paperless e-fax services and recycled materials whenever possible for office, packaging and printed materials. Most importantly for you, it means creating a high quality product that will last wash after wash, eventually to be passed on to other lucky babies.
